Under differential diagnosis, mainly the following vertiginous states are to be distinguished, in which overlapping of the individual causes also exists in the cardinal symptom of vertigo:

otogenous, ocular, intervertebral, cervical, circulatory (= diffuse cerebral vertigo), neurogenic, psychogenic vertigo

as well as anoxemic vertigo and vertigo in intoxication.
